Rev. G. H. Maidment

George Heber Maidment was a priest from Trinity Bay, Newfoundland; his date of birth could not be found. He was chaplain to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment during World War I. Having served, he later became a member of The Great War Veterans’ Association of Newfoundland, specifically the Buchans branch. In the association, he was an officer of the dominion command and was voted a dominion executive in 1938 and appointed to the Way and Means Committee and the Resolutions Committee in 1939. In documents about the association, Maidment is listed as a captain. Additionally, throughout his life, he was a staff member of the C.L.B. of Buchans, a member of the deanery of Notre Dame Bay, and chairman of the Church of England’s Board of Education of Bonne Bay. He served as rector of the mission of Bonne Bay from 1913 to 1918 and rector of Bareneed from 1952 to 1969. Although his date of death could not be located, he retired as a priest in 1960.
