St. John's Harbour
This aerial photograph, taken by the Canadian military in 1942, shows the area of St. John's harbour. As can be seen, the vast majority of the developed area is within a mile of the harbour and the land beyond still consists mainly of farmland and undeveloped open spaces. Sixty years later, the developed areas of the city fill almost all the land visible in this photo.
