RCAF pilots at Torbay, 2 October 1942
The Second World War triggered rapid advances in aviation at Newfoundland. The Canadian and American armed forces expanded the island's existing airports, and built new ones at Torbay, Argentia, Stephenville, and Goose Bay. Shown here are pilots of No.125(F) Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), with a Hawker Hurricane XII aircraft at the Torbay air base.
