Feeding turkeys, ca. 1910-1920
Tryphena (Butt) Forward feeds turkeys in her garden at Harbour Rock Hill, Carbonear. Women living in rural Newfoundland and Labrador during the first half of the 20th century performed a variety of tasks that contributed much to their household’s overall income. These included tending the garden and taking care of any cows, poultry, and other livestock the family may have owned.
