Mine at Buchans, n.d.

This mine at Buchans, central Newfoundland, produced over 16,000,000 tonnes of lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold between 1928 and 1984. It was one of the richest base-metal mines in the world. Background - Lucky Strike headframe and mill complex. Foreground - Glory-hole developed on the Lucky Strike deposit. Brownish-rusty colour is from oxidation of pyrite.
