Codroy Valley, pre-1936
Many Highland Scots living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia immigrated to Newfoundland's southwest coast after 1840. These were mostly agricultural families who settled in the Codroy Valley, where land was of good quality and similar to that in Cape Breton.
