Botwoodville sawmill, ca. 1900
Newfoundland and Labrador’s first large-scale sawmill was built at Botwoodville (now Botwood) in 1890. The sawmilling industry fell into decline in the early 1900s after years of intense harvesting caused white pine to become depleted.
