Bert Riggs is Archivist at the Centre for
Newfoundland Studies Archives, Queen
Elizabeth II Library, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
The Centre for Newfoundland Studies Archives holds an
extensive collection of original manuscripts, personal papers, diaries, scrapbooks, photographs and other
materials which document aspects of Newfoundland and Labrador history. Major collections include
material on the arts, labour, women, social organizations and post-Confederation
politics. Over the years Riggs has worked to bring attention to the
contents of the archives.
Bert Riggs is joining with the Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage Web Site Project
to publish a series of illustrated web articles on the contents of the archives. The series appears in
The Gazette, Memorial University's official newspaper.
The site became available to the public in November 2000.
