Waiting crowd, 4 April 1914
Hundreds of anxious spectators lined the St. John’s waterfront for hours on 4 April 1914 to wait for the SS Bellaventure. The vessel was transporting dead and injured sealers back to Newfoundland from the North Atlantic ice fields.
