Battle Harbour Hospital, ca. 1920

The Grenfell Mission established its first Labrador hospital at Battle Harbour in 1893. In the years leading up to the Commission of Government, charities, churches, and nongovernmental organizations did much to promote public health and welfare in Newfoundland and Labrador.
