Construction at Fort Pepperrell, 1941

Construction at Fort Pepperrell began in May 1941. Builders were initially told the base should accommodate 3,500 American troops, but that number was increased to 5,500 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour on Dec. 7, 1941.
