Sir Hugh Palliser, n.d.
Governor Hugh Palliser was actively involved in Newfoundland and Labrador’s administration during his 1764-68 term. He encouraged the migratory fishery at Labrador and established guidelines for fishers working there. Palliser also helped to draft the 1775 Act of King George III, which he hoped would limit permanent residence of the colony.
