Markland residents, ca. 1935-1945

The Commission of Government created several new farming communities at Markland, Haricot, and elsewhere under its land settlement scheme. The program was the most complex and costly of all the Commission’s plans to stimulate agriculture in Newfoundland and Labrador; it eventually ended in failure.
