St. John’s General Hospital, n.d.
The Commission of Government did much to improve health care in Newfoundland and Labrador during its 15-year tenure. It established a string of cottage hospitals and nursing stations across the country, added a new wing to the General Hospital, operated a medical ship to visit remote communities, and tried to improve the nation’s overall health through dietary reform.
