Fun and Games Troubleshooter
This page is designed to assist people having difficulties with the 'Fun and Games' Java applets.
It will outline the procedure for verifying that Java is enabled on your Internet browser.
Determining your browser verion
If you are using Netscape Navigator or Communicator select About Navigator or
About Communicator from the Help menu. This will load a page which details various
components of your browser. At the top of this page should be the version number.
If using Microsoft Internet Explorer select About Internet Explorer from the Help
menu. A dialog window should appear with the version number near the top.
Select your Internet browser:
All games have been tested in the Internet browsers below under Windows 95/NT and function
properly. Also, various browsers have been used to test the games under Mac O/S and IRIX. Please
select your browser from the list below or scroll down this document until you find the appropriate
section. (Note: Navigator and Communicator are synonymous)
Netscape Navigator 2.0, 2.01, 2.02
Please follow the instructions below to verify that Java has been enabled on your browser.
- From the Options menu select Security Preferences.
- From the window that appears click the General tab at the top.
- Make sure the checkbox by Disable Java does not have a check mark.

If the box beside Disable Java is greyed out, this means that Java was not installed with
your browser. You should re-install Netscape Navigator with Java support. If possible upgrade to
Netscape 3.0 or higher.
Netscape Navigator 3.0, 3.01, 3.02, 3.03, 3.04
Please follow the instructions below to verify that Java has been enabled on your browser.
- From the Options menu select Network Preferences.
- From the window that appears click the Languages tab at the top.
- Make sure the checkbox by Enable Java has a check mark.

Please follow the instructions below to verify that Java has been enabled on your browser.
- From the Edit menu select Preferences.
- From the window that appears click on Advanced in the Categoy list on the left.
- Make sure the checkbox by Enable Java has a check mark.

Please follow the instructions below to verify that Java has been enabled on your browser.
- From the View menu select Options.
- From the window that appears click the Security tab at the top.
- Make sure the checkbox by Enable Java programs has a check mark.

Internet Explorer 4.0
Please follow the instructions below to verify that Java has been enabled on your browser.
- From the View menu select Options.
- From the window that appears click the Advanced tab at the top.
- Scroll down the list until you find the section entitled Java VM.
In this section, make sure the checkbox by Java JIT compiler enabled has a check mark.
