concern n also kinsarn [phonetics unavailable]. Cp PARTRIDGE ~
'genitals' (1840-). Scrotum of an animal, inflated for use as a football.
T 33-641 A kinsarn would be the sack of a buck sheep, or a bull,
skinned out and a bladder put into it and blowed up, like a football. All hands would be
out kicking that on a Christmas. 1974 SQUIRE 39 Another favourite pastime for boys and
young men was 'kicking the concern,' (in the dialect of the day it was 'kickin the
kin-sarn')... The scrotum was taken from a large bull-hide, the skin stretched and dried.
Into this was placed a pig's bladder which had been immersed in a salt brine for several
days to toughen it. It was blown up tight and the pouch drawn together tightly with
strong twine.
