Nfld (1835). See also CLUMPER. A large chunk of ice; a 'pan' of ice floating in a bay
or harbour. 1836 [WIX]2 51 I came ... down a rapid
brook, which had a fall of water in it, and marks of a recent freshet in immense
'clumpets' of ice, a yard and a half thick, which had been carried a hundred yards into

118-67 In the spring the ice sometimes breaks up to form pans or sections which become
free and floating. These are called clumpids. M 71-41 'Clumpet riding' was leaping from
one ice pan to another, or rowing oneself along on one of them with a stick.
