The soil cover is so thin and overlays great masses of flat rocklocally called
'cliff rock.' 1974 Evening Telegram 13 Feb, p. 3 'I'm puttin' a cliffty rock in
this one [snowball)!' he would shout. We all knew how sharp a cliffty rock is on the
corners compared to a round, beachy one. But, generally, everyone would heave snowballs
at each other.
