chuckle v Cp OED chuck v2 1 'to give a gentle blow under the
chin'; perhaps influenced by throttle. To grasp (someone) by the throat.
1927 Chr Messenger 47 'Chuckle' has another meaning besides
to laugh: namely, to catch a person under the throat with the open hand and violent[ly]
push back the head. P 108-74 'You let go of that slide or I'll chuckle you.' I heard this
often and thought it meant to catch by the throat and to shake.
