bob n Cp DAE bob-sled (1848-), DA (1839-).
Comb bob-cat: small sled used for transporting wood in winter or sledding for pleasure; CAT, CATAMARAN.
M 68-4 These bob-cats had two runners and two boards across for seats and two sets of pins for holding onto. Sometimes the boys would tackle the dogs and have them pull the slides so they could get a better ride. P 148-76 ~ a wood-slide.
bob-sled: variety of sled supporting the forward ends of sticks, spars or logs, with the other ends dragging on the ground.
T 43/7-64 The bob-sled was used singly. They were used for pulling schooner spars out of the woods, and used a lot in the lumber woods for pulling wood on. The bob-sleds used to tail-drag the stuff. There'd be one end dragging on the ground and the other chained on the bunk of the sled, the bob-sled.
   bob-slide: see bob-sled; SLIDE n.
M 68-10 The bob-slide is used to pull firewood or logs down steep slopes during the winter. With the butts of the wood placed on the bunk and the tops dragging over the snow, the speed at which it would go on an ordinary two-bunk sleigh is greatly decreased.
bob-stick: wooden bar in front of a sled to which horse's traces are attached; swingletree
T 175/7-65 What we call traces come back to another stick, what we call the bob-stick, was fastened on the end of the slide and he was swung in the middle, what was pulling the slide.
