rope holding a load of wood in place on a sled; TWISTER. Q 67-68 ~
used for tightening up the load (of wood). Q 71-6 Bittin' sticks [are] used when hauling
firewood with a hand-drawn sled. [The] stick is used in much the same manner as one would
use a tourniquet. All slack in the rope is taken up and the end of the stick pushed under
the standing part to secure it. Q 71-8 ~ also 'twister.' Used by inserting a stick
between two parallel lines and tightening by twisting.
