   1984 KELLAND 132 The vessel carried twelve dories. One morning Captain Follett made a flying set, putting over eleven dories. 1987 FIZZARD 127 In the spring and fall, when weather conditions were especially harsh, they used a method [of fishing] called 'the flying set,' in which the schooner dropped off its dories as it continued along under sail. The men set out their gear in straight lines, and at the end of the day they took in their gear before being picked up by the schooner, still under sail.
