PROCESS:

Activity (Grouping - whole class)

Have students create and/or present a display for the Class Timeline. The display should illustrate interesting and important aspects of the Newfoundland referendum of 1948. Examples include:

• posters presenting arguments for or against Confederation
• newspaper headlines concerning the referendum
• photos or sketches of important referendum events or people

EVALUATION

Have students evaluate the display items:

• Do they convey an important aspect of the referendum?
• Are they appropriate and accurate?
