I've heard that we Newfoundlanders could get a much better deal from the
Americans than the Canadians. We should be talking to the Americans about
how we could work together. They could help us solve our money problems.
We should be voting against Confederation. Who needs Canada?
The U.S. is a much more powerful country with 10 times as many people as
Canada. We could make a special arrangement with the Americans, then sell
them our fish products. We'd never have to worry about poverty again. We
could work out some way to be tied to the U.S. and still remain loyal to
Newfoundland.
We don't need the Canadians. We can get a better deal from Uncle Sam. That's
why we must vote against Confederation.
