We must join Confederation. Then we'll have the services here in Newfoundland
that all Canadians have. What kind of services do I mean? I'll tell you.
We'll have proper, paved highways-miles of them-not just a few bumpy dirt tracks.
We'll have fast, efficient postal service all over the island and all over the
world. And decent port facilities. Some of our busiest ports are in a mess-they
need repairs to docks and quays, even some dredging and marking, proper roads
and fences. Canada will provide the funds to get these ports in top shape for
the ships that use them. And airports, too. We haven't the money to keep them
up, but Canada has the money to keep runways properly paved and lighted, to
pay controllers, to run proper, modern airports. Canada will also run the
railway
Confederation will give Newfoundlanders the services that modern people expect
and we can't afford. We need to vote yes for Canada!
