The SS Florizel took the First Five Hundred (Companies A and B) of the First Newfoundland Regiment to Britain in October 1914.

The SS Neptune leaving St. John's on Feburary 5, 1915 carrying C Company, First Newfoundland Regiment. It joined a convoy south of St. John's, where C Company was transferred to the SS Dominion.

D Company, First Newfoundland Regiment departed St. John's for Halifax on March 20, 1915 in the SS Stephano. There the soldiers of D company transferred to the SS Orduna for their voyage to Britain.

In late March, 1915, the soldiers of D Company, First Newfoundland Regiment left Halifax bound for Britain onboard the SS Orduna.

On April, 22, 1915 the SS Stephano sailed with E Company, First Newfoundland Regiment from St. John's to Halifax. There the company transferred to the SS Missanabie which sailed for England on April 25, 1915.

In August 1915 the Newfoundland Regiment sailed for Gallipoli in the SS Megantic, carrying over 1,000 regiment troops.

G Company, First Newfoundland Regiment left St. John's on October 27, 1915. They went by rail and boat to Quebec where they boarded the SS Corsican, which brought them to Europe.
