"A View of Seven Islands in the Harbour of Placentia"
The drawing is by J.S. Meres from the logbook of H.M.S. Pegasus, 1786. It suggests leisure and intellectual pursuits. As schoolmaster on the Pegasus, Meres was responsible for instructing the youth on board in navigation, mathematics and writing.
