The Bows Have It
Created by the British cartoonist John Doyle (1797-1868), this cartoon is a caricature of Newfoundland's new legislative assembly in 1832. Entitled "New Legislative Assembly. Newfoundland. (The Speaker Putting the Question)", Doyle has the speaker say: "As many as are of that opinion say ...Bow! Of the contrary ...Wow! The Bows have it."
