1891 PACKARD 425 American Rough-legged Hawk. Both light and dark phases, with their eggs, young, and adults, collected at Fort Chimo. Apparently more abundant on eastern and northern shores than on the southern portions of Labrador. Downy young were also obtained, of the black phase, July 17, 1882, at Davis Inlet. Termed 'Squalling Hawk' by the planters. 1959 MCATEE 21 ~ squealing hawk.
