231-89 Fuel would consist of small dried branches (called 'spray' in some rural areas
today) which would have already been chopped from the spruce and fir trees brought from
the woods by the men the previous winter. This type of fuel would give quick heat, ideal
for cooking; and the fire would die down just as quickly once the food was cooked. This
was important during hot summer days.
