Comb short leader: section of netting fastened to the landward side of the 'leader' of a cod-trap and fixed to the shore (Q 67-56).
P 127-77 ~ When a trap leader is anchored to the shore, sometimes a piece of old netting is used between the landwash end of the leader and the shore. While this seems to save the main leader from being torn by the rough seas and the rocks, it also guides the fish to the main leader and thus into the trap.
