children; sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella); LADDIE-SUCKER.
1915 SOUTHCOTT 27 Sally sours. A common weed growing abundantly in
waste places and fields. The fertile panicles of flowers usually turn reddish in summer.
Stems juicy, very acid. 1956 ROULEAU 37 Sally Cives. C 66-7 They didn't swallow the
sallies but just chewed them up until the taste was out. 1975 SCOTT 15 The Sheep Sorrel
is known as Sweet Leaf or Laddie Suckers or Sally Suckers.
