rub n
1 A barely formed or discernible passage through
dense woods.
C 71-106 ~ a passage through dense woods which has
not been used long [or often] enough to be called a path. In our community the rub was
always named for the person who was believed to have used it first, for example Michael's
Rub where a man named Michael long ago hauled wood to the seashore.
2 See OTTER RUB.
