Protest March
An organized protest march for the benefit of sick miners, widows and dependents.
Members of the St. Lawrence community lost numerous family members and loved ones as a result of industrial disease.
Approximately three hundred people died due to diseases related to working in the St. Lawrence Mine. Such a devastating loss
prompted citizens of St. Lawrence to protest and call on both the government and the mining company to
to compensate the sick, widowed, and orphaned. Notice the cancer symbol carried by the man.
