Crew of the Strathcona, July 1921
In 1899, the Grenfell Mission acquired the hospital vessel Strathcona. It travelled along the coast of Labrador and northern Newfoundland to treat sick or injured patients and deliver supplies. The Strathcona carried a dispensary, emergency cots, x-ray equipment, and space for a mission hall.
