William Carson (1770-1843), n.d.
Scottish physician and reformer William Carson campaigned for the establishment of a civilian hospital at St. John's, NL during the early 1800s. As a result of his work, the Riverhead Hospital opened on 7 May 1814 in what is today Victoria Park.
