History as a Lens to the Past

Many tools exit to help us understand and learn about history. Libraries and museums are filled with books, artifacts, and photographs that give us valuable insight into the past. Even in our homes, our diaries, family heirlooms, and home videos may one day provide useful information for future historians.

Of particular value to researchers, however, are the public archives, which collect and preserve a wide range of historical information. In Newfoundland and Labrador, dozens of archives exist in every region of the province. Search the list below to discover which archives are located near you.
