Web award for heritage site

The Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage web project received two awards for excellence during the week of Jan. 12-17. The first is Yahoo! Canada Picks of the Week. Yahoo! is one of the best known search engines on the Internet. When giving the award, it stated that the "site looks and feels a lot like a history text of Britain's oldest colony and Canada's newest province. From the ancient history of the Beothuks to today's lively entertainment scene, it does the island proud."

The second is Info Guide's Site of the Week. Info Guide is a Canadian Internet and entertainment directory which has given weekly site of the week awards since 1996. Past recipients include the CNN Travel Guide site and Bell Canada's page dedicated to the 1997 Toronto International Film Festival. In picking the Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage site, Info Guide called it "a well designed and produced Web Site with great content."
