Lundrigan Appeal
The harshness of Lundrigan's treatment at the hands of the Surrogate Court was
taken up by reformers William Carson and Patrick Morris. The reform party
supported Lundrigan's action against the Surrogates for trespass—false
imprisonment of tying him to a flake and whipping him. Chief Justice Francis
Forbes heard the case on November 8-9, 1820.
