Court House and Market
Court house and market, St. John's, 1849, W.R. West. This print is one of a series inscribed to his Excellency Sir John Gaspard le Marchant Knt. KCSF—C.T.S., Governor of Newfoundland. West, an architect, came to St. John's in 1846 to help rebuild the city after the fire of 1846. The view is from Water Street. This building was itself destroyed by fire in 1892.
