APPROVING DRAFT OF ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION FOR RICHARD
EDWARDS AS GOVERNOR AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF IN AND OVER
THE ISLAND OF NEWFOUNDLAND.

the 6th of April 1781.
The King's most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas there was this Day read at the Board, a Report from the Right Honourable the Lords of the Committee of Council for Plantation Affairs, dated the 3d of this instant, humbly offering to His Majesty for His Royal Approbation, a Draught of an Additional Instruction prepared by the Lords Commissioners for Trade and Plantations, for Richard Edwards Esqr Governor of Newfoundland, directing his observance of four Acts passed in the fifteenth, Eighteenth & nineteenth Years of His Majesty's Reign, for the encouragement of the Fisheries, and for extending the Trade of Ireland to His Majesty's Colonies and Plantations in America;—His Majesty taking the same into His Royal Consideration, was pleased, with the Advice of His privy Council, to approve of the said Draught of an Additional Instruction (which is hereunto annexed) and to Order, as it is hereby Ordered, that the Right Honourable Lord George Germain One of His Majesty's principal Secretaries of State, do cause the same to be prepared for His Majesty's Royal Signature.
