I have just been looking for things on LABRADOR and everything is about Newfoundland and LABRADOR, not just LABRADOR. Especially the North Coast of LABRADOR which is where I am from. Everywhere you look it is Newfoundland and LABRADOR, we are way different then Newfoundlanders and we can very well seperate into our own province, and survive pretty darn well. I suggest to anyone to include things on the North Coast, or just Labrador anyway. Why do it always have to be Newfoundland and LABRADOR. Feel free to drop me a line or two about what you think about this topic. Oh Yeah! We are not Newfies, we are LABRADORIANS BORN AND BRED!! Newfies are the one's on the island, we are on the Mainland. Any questions or comments? Lloyd Lane Postville, LABRADOR General Delivery A0P 1N0

I love any information dealing with Newfoundland history. My special interest lies with World War 1. I have had difficulty in obtaining information dealing with those Newfoundlanders who served in the First World War. It is easy to find out which Newfoundlanders died during this war but it is not so easy to find out the lists of Newfoundlanders who enlisted during the war; not just listing those who died-I am looking for names of the men who survived the war. In particular, I am looking for the names of those men who enlisted out of the Harbour Grace, Spaniard's Bay or Carbonear areas during the war. Do you have any suggestions as to where I can locate such information? Wayne Whitten

An excellent job! Congrats! Note , pls update your reference to the archaeology dig in Cupids- 1997 artifacts such as German mellarmine ( may be poor spelling) , cobblestones, stained glass window fragments are definite proof that Bill Gilbert has disc overed the original plantation of 1610. Migratory fishermen did not build elaborate houses with stained glass windows and did not possess rich items such as Spanish olive oil storage jars....all of these items have now been excavated from the DIG site in Cupids. If you would like pictures of some of these items please let me know , I think they could add considerably to the Cupids Colony article. Again , heartiest congratulations , it is quite encouraging to finally see some recognition to the historic si gnifance of Cupers Cove as Canada's first official English settlement. You may be interested to know that increasing evidence is pointing to the fact that Cupids was not abandoned as was once thought , but rather has had continuous settlement since 1610. Keep up the good work!!

My grandmother was born in St.Andrews, and two years ago we took my mother to your beautiful island to see what her mother experienced while growing up. She passed away this last year, but she was still talking about the trip. I would like to see more published about the west side of the island, as I have been trying to do genealogical research on my Chisholm/Chaisson lines from that area. Thanks for the history lesson!

I've been writing history-sweeping fantasies about Newfoundland. I find that there's a fascination there that has something to do for everyone. Checking the actual facts has only come secondarily. It's very interesting.

I am 50% Newfie and proud of it! Just found you page and will certainly investigate it as I love history and geneology. My mother's family includes some famous west-coast Newfoundlanders, one on whom was in the Guinness Book of World Records for a nu mber of years for the largest number of living descendents. I am one of his 385 great grandchildren and he died at the age of 103.
