Newfoundland and Labrador Captain Bob Bartlett examines a sea chart in the cabin of his schooner, the Effie M. Morrissey. Before he died on 28 April 1946, Bartlett visited the Arctic more than 20 times and accumulated numerous international awards. He also published articles in National Geographic and other periodicals, as well as three books: The Karluk's Last Voyage (1916), The Log of Bob Bartlett (1928), and Sails Over Ice (1934).
