The Newfoundland and Labrador Seal Fishery
The bulk of seals taken annually in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and off the eastern coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador are Greenland seals, or harps.

Long Range Mountains
This ecoregion is divided into three separate upland areas, extending from the southwestern coast of Newfoundland to its Northern Peninsula.
The Maritime Barrens ecoregion extends westward across the southern half of the uplands of Newfoundland to the Long Range Mountains.
Thisecoregion extends across the southern Labrador border with Quebec and runs northwest to the southern boundary of the Smallwood Reservoir.
New Quebec Central Plateau
The New Quebec Central Plateau ecoregion is comprised of the Kaniapiskau Plateau and a large part of Lake Plateau to the south and east.

Newfoundland and Labrador is part of two different types of biomes, the tundra and the taiga.
