Directions if you
are driving from a location on the Avalon Peninsula
The Colony of Avalon Archaeological Site is
located in the town of Ferryland on the "Southern Shore" of the Avalon Peninsula.
The town of Ferryland is on Provincial Highway Route 10.
If you are driving from the St. John's, Torbay, Conception Bay areas,
take Route 10 going south past the towns of Bay Bulls, Witless Bay and Cape Broyle. If driving
from the from Trepassey or St. Mary's Bay area, take Route 10 going north past the towns of
Renews and Fermeuse. If you are
driving on the Trans-Canada Highway, exit onto Route 13 which joins Route 10 between Bay Bulls
and Witless Bay. Drive south on Route 10 to reach the site. For all other areas, please consult
the map below, as well as official highway maps.
The exit for the Colony of Avalon is clearly marked
on the side of the road. Once off Route 10, the large building is the Interpretation Centre.
Please register at the Interpretation Centre before joining the tour of the site.
